Voting has ended. We came in 28th.

Open voting for IndabaMusic’s Peter Gabriel – Scratch My Back competition has ended. How did The Tossintons (a group consisting of myself, Incentive, and Catchers of Mad Wreck) fare in the competition? We finished 28th in the voting. Now, there is still a chance that we could be selected as the grand prize or runner up winner. However, I see that as very unlikely. I was hoping to make it to the Top 25 in order to be considered for the 10 honorary mentions.

I would like to thank all of our friends and fans who voted for us. It was you guys, not the IndabaMusic community, that gave us a chance. Thank you so much! Catchers of Mad Wreck and I both greatly appreciate the support.

What did I learn from this experience? The community of IndabaMusic has some very strange taste. Just listen to what came in first place by clicking here……

This is my latest release. I know it is a bit of a surprise, as I have just released UMASA not too long ago and have been knowingly working on a release titled Sonnfinsternis for Dystopiaq. However, I wanted to compile some material I had done that did not necessarily fit what I was doing for Dystopiaq, and Sayonara Records (based in Tokyo) seemed to be a good choice.

Dystopiaq 3 Artwork

je.vi finished the artwork for Dystopiaq 3. Here it is!

Manufacturing Consent and Dystopiaq 3

I watched the 1992 documentary, “Manufacturing Consent,” with je.vi today. I found it interesting that, later in the evening, I ended up having a discussion at my friend’s house about how to create an egalitarian society. When you have the understanding that 80% of the population is structurally designed to live in perpetual ignorance, it does make the future seem rather bleak. Anyway, the film is available for free on Hulu.com and I highly suggest anyone interested in power politics and media take the 170min to watch it.

As for updates on the upcoming Dystopiaq 3 compilation, things are almost complete. All of the tracks are currently in London being mastered by Concrete Swords. The projected release date is now June 8th. I’m also observing je.vi do the cover artwork as we speak, and it is some real cool stuff. I hope everyone enjoys the hard work of every artist involved in this upcoming compilation.

It also seems that Dystopiaq is becoming a little popular. Concrete Swords, last Friday, had 1,300 downloads in a single day on Archive.org! That is quite an achievement for such a new, and small, net label.

Until next time…
